Yes! I made it through my first (half) week in my new job.
My week has had echoes of my last trimester of pregnancy, but without the bulge! It’s been full of a burning desire to get things done before the big day came. It was overwhelming at times. Followed by seeing the results of my hard word. But I made it!
Why is it that with less than a week left at home my mind turned to overhauling our shelves and emptying boxes? I had three years to sort this out, why did I choose to do it now?
At the start of the week I needed to put the finishing touches into organising the house and children. I also had to start adjusting our minds – mine included! – to the fact that I would be going out to work & into an office.
Mid week and the big day came. My morning routine changed for the first time in five years! It involved me choosing clothes that aren’t jeans; combing my hair and getting out of the house without forgetting anything!
My wonderful mum arrived mid week, too. It’s so special having her here, helping us all as I make the transition from being a SAHM to a Working Mum.
So we’ve had our first (half) work of me being at work. Morning drop off is still the same & I’m home in time for dinner. So far so good.
I’m under no illusions. It’s going to be tough, working and being a mum. But I won’t be the first person to do it, or the last. But it’ll be a first for our little family. Hopefully I’ll make it through the challenges of being a working mum. I’ll let you know how it goes!

I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
