Work #Word of the Week

The Reading Residence

This week every spare moment (and non-spare moment, come to think of it) I’ve spent catching up on work.

Half term for us was great it was so lovely having Mademoiselle & Little Mister home for two weeks.  Yes it was noisy, muddy, I was a referee too many times; we spent lots of it outside, caught up with friends and we headed off to Jersey for four days.  But it also meant that I now have a momentous mountain of work to catch up on.

I work part-time & with a partner, but we pretty much look after our own projects, so when I’m not around the work isn’t picked up by a team it just waits for me to return!

So this week I’ve put on my hiking boots and started climbing that work mountain.  I’ve rolled myself out of bed to get a few hours of work in pre-school, and continuing to do it after the children’s bedtimes, too.  To say I’m tired is an understatement!

And my poor blog has been neglected this week *sighs.*  I’m on comment catch up big time – sorry to all those who I haven’t reached yet.  I have posts half written, photography that’s yet to be edited, products to be reviewed and I haven’t posted anything all week *shakes head.*

I sometimes wish my blog was my ‘real’ work, because I enjoy it so much. But financially I can’t give up my day job to replace the word ‘blogger’ on my business cards – Mummyshire isn’t that good & I’m not that savvy!  My first job will always be as mummy to Thing 1 & Thing 2, but could I roll the dice and give up my paying job to plunge myself entirely into making Mummyshire financially viable?  It was never my intention; but I enjoy my blog so much maybe it’s time for a rethink? Clearly I have some decisions I need to work on *groans! pardon the pun!*

I hope you’ve had a lovely week & enjoyed the weather

Sounds a busy week and one with plenty of food for thought and things to work through, good luck x #wotw

  • Mel

I could have chosen ‘work’ too as my word of the week. All I have done in the past month is work it seems and my poor little blog is suffering as well (don’t get me started on all the comments I haven’t even looked at…). Can you imagine ordering business cards with Mummyshire: Pro Blogger. How cool would that be?

    • MummyShire

Oh Mel, sounds like we’re in the same boat I keep willing myself on to do more but somewhere in between it all I have to have a little bit of sleep!
Oh I’m just imaging what ordering pro blogger business cards would feel like *clicks fingers to snap myself out of my dream!*
I can only hope that I see you there first – your blog deserves it!
I hope you have a lovely weekend with your little ones xx xx

  • Katie Heels and Hooves

Oh it’s the downside of a holiday, isn’t it? The dreaded catching up when you get back. Hope you’re back on top of your mountain now xx

    • MummyShire

Yes it is, isn’t it…you enjoy your time away then spend time catching up!
I just need some more sleep so that I can continue climbing that work mountain! Thnx for dropping by xx

I work full time, so understand completely how busy work can be and how hard it is to fit blogging around it. I am ‘lucky’ (my #WotW) to have had this week off work so have caught up on blogging bits and bobs. I would love to one day go part time so I have more time for blogging, but don’t see it happening anytime soon! I hope you manage to sort everything out xx

    • MummyShire

Wouldn’t it be great is the blog could be the wage earner; the thing that we enjoy bringing home the bacon *stops dreaming!*
      Maybe one day, who knows?!
      Thanks for dropping by xx

  • Mummy Tries

I’m so with you on this, I’m desperate to make that elusive leap to pro-blogger but just can’t work out how to make it happen!! Have a fab weekend xx

    • MummyShire

Gosh, you’re so good you could easily make that leap to pro-blogger, surely?!
It’s a dream I have, but at the same time we can’t afford to let my wage go. But then if you’re going to start any new business you have to take the leap some time don’t you.
      Oh, if only…
I’m sure one day I’ll see you on the pro-blogger circuit.
Thanks for dropping by xx xx

  • Merlinda Little ( @pixiedusk)

Like you I wish that i can depend on the blog financially but its not. I hope you can get some rest and extra time to blog =)

    • MummyShire

Thnx Merlinda. I think so many of us would love this blogging hobby to make us a living wage. One day, I’m sure, it could just happen! *takes head out of the clouds!*
      Thanks for dropping by xx

Not the best word then! Sounds like you’re powering through it, though, and I’m sure it was worth it to have that fortnight with your two anyway. Good luck with decisions, too, big ones, by the sound of it. I do like blogging myself, too 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

    • MummyShire

No, not the best but I suppose its the consequence of having such a great half term off with the children – and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
Still, onwards and upwards up this crazy work mountain. Big decisions but I doubt things will be changing any time soon!
Thanks for the lovely linky xx
