I don’t usually add words to my Sunday Photo.
In fact I don’t usually publish my photo on a Monday, but there is an exception to every rule.
My Mademoiselle competed in the UK Gym competitions (South) on Sunday in Milton Keynes.
We had a very early start, nerves were on edge from 8am until 1pm until the results were announced.
Nerves definitely got the better of Mademoiselle today.
She wobbled off the Beam, but undeterred got back on and finished her routine strongly.
On her floor routine she missed her opening jump which affected her going into handstand-forward roll.
But I can understand why nerves got the better of her – they would of me, too.
The stadium is 40 metres by 40 metres, and was packed with parents, not all rooting for my girl!
She’s standing up, on her own, and having to perform.
I’m so proud of my Mademoiselle who got up & gave her all
She got maximum scores for technical ability on her floor routine.
This time it was the execution which let her down.
But she finished with style & grace and with a determination to do better next time.
Yes, she was upset with herself, but she didn’t let it get her down.
Yes she was a bit emotional but through frustration rather than despair.
On the way home she said ‘I want to do the next competition because I want to get better.’
She’s a tough little cookie.
She’s an amazing thing who often amazes me with her maturity.
I love this girl.
Life is tough if you’re the mummy of a competing child.
Hi Tracey, your girl has got spirit, that’s for sure and it shows strength of character to want to get out and do better next time!. Maximum score for technical ability sounds impressive as it is! I don’t blame you for feeling proud of your daughter, any Mum would be too.

I tried gymnastics in high school but wasn’t’ any good. Glad she’s spunky and won’t give up. #MMBC
Aww! Bless her. It sounds like she did so well. I don’t think I could do anything like that in front of an audience. You must be so proud x

I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
