How exciting! What an amazing man to meet. We’ve met a few authors and illustrators, but never met Axel Scheffler before.

You’re right, it was a one off experience and the children were in awe of him to start with but he was so good. He asked them questions and they him – he spent time with each family whilst signing and illustrating.
Totally awesome (can you tell I was in awe, too!)
How brilliant that you captured this special moment. I bet the girls will treasure this moment. I’m rather envious it has to be said. I love to draw so I would have been in my element! Thanks for sharing
They were in raptures as they watched him draw a bird in their book & sign in in a very creative way!
He also spent time answering their questions – which he’s probably heard a thousand times – but we now know he prefers drawing animals than people!
Oh wow! How exciting!
I hope the kids had a fantastic time x

It was exciting for all of us! He was the most charming man, and spent time with each of the families, answering questions & drawing in their books. The children were buzzing when they came off stage!
You are so lucky, how amazing to meet him! Brilliant 🙂

And he was an amazing man! Axel Scheffler was so gracious with the children, taking time to answer their questions and then illustrate, not just sign, their book. No wonder his illustrations are so magical!
Awww lucky kids. I would be over the moon too. 🙂 x

They were and so was I! He was a very charming man and he speedily drew them a little illustration inside the books the quality of which I could never achieve if I had all day to do it! They are lucky and very excited!
Thanks for popping by xx
Wow! How amazing to be able to meet a man whose illustrations have brought so many great stories to life.

He was amazing and so gracious too, he spent time talking to the children and answering their questions – so it felt more than just a rushed book signing. The fact that he drew so quickly a token illustration in their book shows just how creative he is. We were all in awe!
Wow that is a very cool person to meet – I bet the Little Shires loved that! 🙂

Soooo cool, Louise! He was utterly charming too, which added to the experience. He took time to engage with the children, talk to them & answer their questions. We now know he prefers to draw animals over people!
A great day had by all!

I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
