In four weeks time Wembley will be hosting its first Red Nose Day Danceathon – and I’m going to be part of it with #TeamHonk
Yup, I’ve just gone and signed up for a Team Honk team place on a six hour Red Nose Day Danceathon in aid of Comic Relief. Well actually it’s a sibling thing, me & my lovely sister are going to do it together! I like dancing but could this be 5 and a half hours too long?!
Why? Good question. I’ve tinkered on the edges of doing my bit for charity, helping out at our local schools PTA, getting drunk for Wear it Pink day and donating regularly to Breast Cancer Awareness charity, but I haven’t really done much of late. I mean getting up off my arse and actually done something. So I’m gonna & I’m dragging my poor sister along with me.
I’m not sure I can keep my HOFF moves under wraps for 6 hours!!
So what’s it all about? Gorgeous Claudia Winkleman *girl crush blush* is leading the Red Nose Day Danceathon on 6 March in Wembley. 2,000 of us will be shaking our booties & learning routines with the help of some “celebrity friends” Anything for a whiff of the Strictly Come Dancing crew, eh?!
So we’ve signed for a place on the #Team Honkteam – a mega social media tidal wave of brilliant fundraising (can you tell I’m a fan?!). Under the #TeamHonk umbrella, bloggers & their friends have raised £42,000 over 3 years for Comic Relief & have made a real difference. So I’m proud to be part of their 2015 #TeamHonkDanceathon team and all monies raised will go towards Comic Relief projects in the UK & Africa to make lasting change.
So, now the pressure is on me Us. Whilst I can’t talk for my sister, I do know that my dancing skills aren’t what they used to be. I also know I do my best dancing with a glass of wine in hand, which I doubt will be available on Sunday in the middle of Wembley arena.
So, down to business: I’ve never been good at asking for money, but as my mother always says ‘if you don’t ask, you won’t get’ so I’m asking now. We would be over the moon if you could sponsor us via our JustGiving pageso all our sponsorship money will be added to the #TeamHonk Just Giving fund.
Since signing up, we have our first donation – Betfair kindly kickstarted our sponsorship on our Just Giving page with a £150 donation. Thank you
Me & my sister have set ourselves a £500 target to help #TeamHonk reach its overall target of £100,000. Yikes! So whether it’s big bucks or shrapnel coffers, all donations would be hugely appreciated
Now, where did I put my MC Hammer Trousers…**goes off humming ‘nah-na-na-nah, ha, na, you can’t touch this…‘**
Careful! You’ll have someone’s eye out!
