I never thought I’d be so ready for Christmas, but I am – and I’ve surprised myself by being so organised!
Today I’m making more mince pies – Little Mister is eating them in batches of 12. But the pastry and mince meat is ready so it’s more constructing! I’ll probably do that with a glass of Bailey’s in one hand!
Other than that I’m ready. Presents are wrapped, with bows on, and batteries bought. We’re spending Christmas with family this year, so I don’t have to worry too much about food.
Having the Little Shires at home all week has made for a lovely run up to the Big Day, and their enthusiasm is so infectious. It feels very Christmasy which has helped me get ready for the 25th, especially after last week.
The first day of no school they embraced the idea of downtime wholeheartedly – which was fine by me! Little Mister & Mademoiselle spent the day in PJs eating popcorn& watching Arthur Christmas.
We were all happy doing nothing, but doing nothing together!
This week I’ve been organised enough to host a few playmates, catch up with friends and make our own Christmas Songs play list on Deezer which is now on repeat!
On Thursday afternoon we took a trip into London to see the Christmas lights. Walking along Oxford Circus & into Regent Street felt really festive. This year’s lights look really pretty – I always prefer them when there’s no sponsorship involved.
In Leicester Square the festive market smelt of mulled wine and sweet pancakes, which of course we had to partake! And there was a wonderful Reggae choir in Piccadilly Circus.
I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
