This week, as of last, my week can probably be summed up by one word – Quiet.
Ever since the children returned to school the house & my daytime has seemed oh so quiet.
Working from my home office seems to magnify the quietness during school hours. This is good because I’m getting lots of work and writing done, but on the other hand it really is oh so quiet!
Do you remember the song by Bjork “It’s Oh So Quiet” – the flow of this song is like our house! The lyrics go
It’s oh so quiet
It’s oh so still
You’re all alone
And so peaceful until….*music builds & crashes*
…they return at 3.10pm!
There is nothing quiet about Mademoiselle & Little Mister when they return from school;
There’s always the first half hour where there’s a bit of bickering, some pushing and shoving and jockeying for my attention & they’re loud! They’re letting off steam, being brother and sister and despite what I may say at times, I do value their noise!
Next week we’re heading into birthday territory for Mademoiselle; we have an early party at the weekend at a trampolining park.
This is the first party where I don’t need to prepare the food. Goodie bags are already packed and the birthday cake is arriving tomorrow it feels strange to be so calm & quiet in the run up to a child’s party!
However, the following week we’re having a birthday sleepover. So ask me in a few weeks time and I’m sure my word of the week won’t be Quiet!
I hope you enjoy your weekend and if you want to a little sing-a-long you can’t go wrong with this from Bjork!
I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
