I’m back. I had a bit of a break with fewer posts in June because of some serious technical issues with the back end of my blog. I won’t go into the minutia but there will be some changes happening outwardly as a result. So with every cloud…silver lining and all that…!
So I thought I’d look back at a few of the things from June that made me happy
1 Becoming Six
My boy was six in June. Six. We had a bit of a traditional ‘birthday tea’ at home and the weather was perfect. It was a beautifully warm summer’s evening with five boys running around in the garden playing water pistol ‘tag’ and only stopping for a party food & a chocolate fountain.
It’s the kind of birthday parties I remember having as a child; a perfect bit of retro fun.
I’ve reached some big numbers – thank you!
I now have nearly 3.100 twitter followers, and despite what is said about it now growing as a social medium, I enjoy twitter! Conversations can be easily had & info sought.
I know I probably shouldn’t say that as a mummy blogger, but Facebook’s algorithms and constant ‘boost’ advertising drives me crazy at times! Still, I was very pleased to reach my own ‘600’ followers milestone and growing.
Thank you *blows kisses*
3 New friends
Me & Dadtired had a rare night out together and met some genuinely wonderful people who I now class as friends. It’s not often we gel with another couple so quickly and comprehensively. But we did, and we’ve met them again twice.
4 Breakfast by the Kids
Sunday morning and I was “invited” to breakfast by the Little Shires. They made me a placemat & set the table with a range of cereals and a jug of milk. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that give the biggest of smiles.
5 Mummy Son Days
We’ve had a couple of Saturday’s when it’s just been me & Little Mister. As a second child he sometimes complains he never gets to talk. So our Saturday afternoon was just him & me, listening to each other. No interruptions. Mummy-Daughter days are special, but we mustn’t forget the boys!
We’re off to the circus in July, but not just any circus, Gifford’s Circus. It’s like a travelling traditional circus with all the excitement of Circ du Soleil. It’s been described as a ‘international gymnastic show with dancing horses’ – I can’t wait to take the Little Shires to the show in July!
7 Sunny weather
Yes, it’s been a bit up and down, but how gorgeous has this weather been?! This is when our garden comes into its own. We’ve enjoyed parties in the garden that lasted until *very* late, the kids playing water games in it and just drinking wine at the patio table. Bring on summer!
8 End of Term
…and all it brings. I have drumming assemblies, violin assemblies, end of term reports. Juggling it with work will be a challenge. But this term is a culmination of everything they’ve been working towards all year. i
I may not be saying it this time next month, but I’m looking forward to having both Little Shires’ at home for the summer. It’s going to be a bit different this year as I’m working some of it, but it does mean the days spent together are going to be precious.
9 Getting Back on the Blog
I have so many wonderful things to review, I can’t wait to get back on the blog. I have a Hungry Caterpillar competition to run *watch this space* and some really beautiful smelling coconut & mango hair & body wash from Vosene and Cornbury Festival to feature.
It’s good to be back!
10 Date Night
It’s been too long. I don’t know where we’re going yet, but it’s about time me & Dadtired did this again. Soon!
I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
