Little Mister has never been a big one for drawing at school. Or even at home. He’s a bit like a puppy, really – needs lots of exercise, regular feeding and lots of love in return I get oodles of cuddles! So picking up a pen has never been top of his list, so when he writes for pleasure its a big deal.
Last week he was on a roll.
This was his haul of pictures last week and he can’t put his pencils down. All are different, some more detail than others, but if you ask him each has its own story behind it.
This week’s drawings from school
Then he produced this one, below. To be honest it went to the bottom of the pile, until he started talking about it.
At school they are writing about people who are special to them; and Little Mister chose me. *I know, made my heart melt too.* Then during his choosing time he decided to draw me, and this is the result.
No hair, no eyes, no mouth, no body even. It’s easy to dismiss it and at first I did. But then I thought about what it means to him and why he started his picture, and it reminded me of the quote by Joubert Botha
“Beauty starts in your head, not in your mirror”
My Little Mister ran out of time to finish my portrait, but regardless of the time he had his intention was heartfelt and full of love.
I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
