When I think of Lonely Planet books I think of the travel guides we used to use to plan our holidays. Before Internet or smart-phones were the thing *gosh, that ages me, doesn’t it?!*
But Lonely Planet Kids has expanded its repertoire and has some gorgeous children’s books in its collection, all reminding us about the wonderful planet on which we live. Including this one – The World’s Cutest Animal Colouring Book.
When this book landed on the table my girl was mesmerized. For her this is the ultimate colouring book, so much to colour in and with endless options and variety. She’s been in her element & if we’re going out she often asks if she can take it with her.
It’s a beautifully put together book featuring 22 cute animals, dressed up or surrounded by trees, flowers, corals from the seabed & the like. The illustrations are gorgeous & are created by Lulu Mayo – creator of A Million Cats and A Million Dogs. They range from turtles on the ocean bed to dancing frogs; from prancing reindeer to a pruning peacock.
On the left hand side of the book the picture is coloured in, and on the right there’s a black & white version to be coloured in.
One of the pages in the cutest animal colouring book which is half finished.
This is the peacock which is one of my favourites.
Mademoiselle has really enjoyed replicating the pages. It requires concentration as there is lots of detail to each picture, but I think that’s what she enjoys. The extent to which you could make up your own patterns is endless. You can see her really concentrating and getting wrapped up in her colouring when she opens this book.
At the back of the book there’s a world map showing where the creatures are found in the world, as well as interesting facts about each.
I really like the Lonely Planet Kids book collection, as it’s really stayed true to what it started all those decades ago. It’s opening up our children’s minds to the amazing world around them.
The people at Lonely Planet Kids say these books”…aims to kick-start the travel bug … showcasing the quirky facts, amusing tales and inspiring stories that bring our planet to life….”
The World’s Cutest Animal Colouring Book is a beautiful look at the animals around us, and it’s a colouring book that’s kept my girl quiet for hours!
I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
