The Little Shires have fallen in love with these ChalkOla Pens. They look and feel like pens but it’s actually liquid chalk, so bye-bye dusty old chalk!

Presented in packets of 10, covering the full rainbow spectrum including white, they’re the size of a chunky marker pen, which is great for little ones like Little Mister who still trying to master his pincer grip.
The Little Shires loved these chalkboard markers because they act like a felt tip, but with less of the mess – and as they’re water based they wash off hands and clothes very easily. All of the colours are so vibrant and when they are colouring in the chalky ink gives an even colour, unlike felt tip pens. It’s not as easy to rub off as traditional chalk, which is a bonus to the artist who wants his/her creations to be on show for longer without getting smudged. And because it’s water based it washes off hands and clothes so much easier than felt tips.
Just one of many games that included the Chalkola Markers. Today it’s playing restaurants
You need a damp cloth or wet wipe to remove it from the board. We use a very slightly damp microfibre cloth, which allowed them to rub out and start again without leaving the chalkboard too wet. Worked perfectly.
And his word of the day is P.O.O …!
The Chalkola pens are a big high in the Mummyshire household, giving them a 4.5 out of 5.
Then only niggles (and it’s a small one but one they raised) is starting the Chalkola markers when new. Each pen needs to be vigorously shaken and the pen tip pumped against a board to release the ink on first use. It’s too difficult for the children to do, and they did get a bit frustrated as they just wanted to draw NOW *dealing with the demand for instant gratification needed by a 4yo at all times!*
They work beautifully as chalks and double up as white board markers, for labels, anything porous – or if you dare, you can draw on the windows (that’s one we’re going to try at the weekend!) Mademoiselle used them on paper and they work equally well but obviously deliver a permanent picture.
They look nice and bright and I think they’d make a great stocking present filler.
