I can’t really begin to think about Christmas until Mademoiselle’s birthday is over. And after three different celebrations (and cakes) her birthday is now well & truly over!
So this week, for me, sees the beginning of Christmas!
Elis Elfington’s adventures begin again. I wasn’t sure how interested Mademoiselle would be in our Elf this year, but she’s as much of a believer as she was three years ago. Her enthusiasm for Ellis is second only to her brothers!
Ellis arriving on Thursday, hiding inside my Christmas Jumper, caused great laughter. Little Mister was literally bouncing up & down with excitement. He kept on popping back into the room to make sure his Elf was really here!
I already know they’ll be times I’ll be swearing under my breath as I’m crawling into bed having forgotten about Ellis! What we do for our kids, eh?!
Work-wise my business plan & identity for my PR & Marketing initiative is now finished. Having an idea is one thing; getting it down on paper for people to invest in has been hard. But I’m beginning to pitch myself out to potential clients. Derek Edward “Del Boy” Trotter used to say “This time next year we’ll be millionaires, Rodney” – not saying I will be anywhere near but hopefully I’ll start making some money!
This week also sees the beginning of a medical journey for me. This last year my body’s red blood cells haven’t been functioning properly. So after months of monitoring I’m starting the journey to find out why with a new consultant. With a hospital visit planned for the weekend before Christmas it’s not great timing but the journey to find the solution has to begin some time.
December is an exciting month & it’s the beginning of one crazily busy social calendar – not for me but for the little Shires!
They have birthday parties, school plays, gym parties, horse-riding parties, lantern parades, carol singing all of which needs some input from me. This is on top of the things we want to do with them including seeing Father Christmas & getting our tree!
It’s the beginning of a logistically challenging month but we’re gearing up to my favourite time of the year.
Christmas. It’s begun!
Hope you’ve had a lovely week & kept warm xx

I'm Tracey, nice to meet you. Mummyshire was 'born' three years ago after we moved from London to the Oxford countryside. Here I chart our journey adjusting to our new lives, the challenges of being in the countryside & surviving parenthood.
