Are you eating healthily? If you were to take a healthy eating quiz now how well would you do? *pauses for an answer* What about your children?
I always think that we eat well as a family, but eating well isn’t just about eating fruit & veg. For example, choosing the right fats and staying away from the nasties in packed & processed foods is important. But do I always do that?
My children eat a variety of things, even if they don’t eat them in big quantities. Mademoiselle won’t touch a cooked carrot but she’ll eat Brussels Sprouts like they’re sweets, stabbing them with her fork to create little Sprout lollies. And Little Mister is a huge beetroot fan and it has sometimes got him into trouble!
So if it’s not just upping fruit & veg intake, what does healthy eating all mean?
I found this Healthy Eating quiz which opened my eyes *again!* to the options that we as parents have to enhance our & our family’s diet.
For example, did you know that adding walnuts – even to cakes – means you’re adding valuable protein to the diet? Or that dried fruits have more sugar per 100g than biscuits & milk, so beware what they can do to teeth!
So go on, take this healthy eating quizand find out what you know – or, more importantly what you don’t know.
